We've experienced a lot of amazing food in Italy so far. E is working with a church here, and the families that are a part of it have been so hospitable.
We have dinner out at a family's house 3-4 nights a week. On those days we usually skip lunch (you'll see why in a minute).
Pasta, pizza, seafood, and cheeses... We haven't tried anything we didn't like! (although the insalata di mare was definitely a new experience!)
Antipasti of meats, cheeses, veggies, and breads
Insalata de mare (seafood salad)
stuffed salmon roll
and for dessert, fruit & espresso
and then, gelato!
This was a traditional summer dinner at the pastor's home.
Prosciutto crudo e melon
Caprese
then, formaggio (cheese!) and bread
Last weekend we shared a meal with 13 others, hosted by Sicilian nonni (grandparents) .
It was fantastic
primi - pasta was SO good.
secondo: meatballs with a hardboiled egg and ham inside
beef in gravy and some Italian potato salad
Cheese all around
insalada comes after dinner
peanut cake

Dinner with a couple from Naples.
see that crazy cheese with the colored toppings? It's made from sheep milk and is the consistency of cream cheese, but MUCH better. topped with black pepper, chives, olives and red pepper.
This couple made us Neapolitan (Naples-style) pizza which was AMAZING.
Tiramisu and homemade creme di limoncello (YUM)
Nom, nom, nom. We [and our bellies] are loving Italy!
