A history of writing

My two year blogaversary is this month and so is NaBloPoMo. Cooncidence? Who knows, but I'm going for it!  I've never blogged for a week consecutively, much less a month so I hope I'm up for the challenge.

Here are some other NaBloPoMo blogging buddies
(let me know if you want me to add you to this list!)
I've been journaling for 12+ years. I have a stack of journals falling apart in my closet, tales of my 11-year-old self written to an imaginary friend named Cassie who, in my mind, was much less annoying and neater than the two younger sisters who shared my bedroom at the time.

Over six years ago I started blogging. In the years I've been blogging I've used
Xanga (2004-07), Myspace (2005-07), Live Journal (2007-08), Blogger (2008-2010)

When I started this blog--I did it partly to pick up my slacking habit again, but mostly to write about my  wedding and apply for Weddingbee. My style has changed pretty dramatically over the years I've been writing online. When I was in high school and early college my posts were a self-centered teenage stream of consciousness--scattered, hyper, and pointless. In mid-college I blogged a lot of poetic, dramatic, emotive stuff on LJ and a maturing, more thoughtful life perspective on my public Myspace blog.

Before wedding blogs, I only read blogs of people I knew in real life. Reading others blogs has greatly improved my own writing style and scope. I really enjoyed reading this series of posts on Weddingbee and learning what inspires other bloggers to write--especially in a public blogging forum.
I found my writing voice again through blogging about wedding planning, and the online community and support that has come along with it has been so inspiring.
I know a lot of non-bloggers (E included) don't necessarily get it, but I'm so glad to have gotten to know so many of you that do!
